EDWARD ERASMO CURIEL
Feb. 2, 1942 - Apr. 30, 2012
Edward Curiel returned home April 30, 2012, with his family by his side in Phoenix, Arizona.
Born February 2, 1942 in Brawley, CA to Luis Curiel and Guadalupe Salazar and were longtime residents of Brawley. He graduated from Brawley High School in 1960, worked in the produce industry in management positions in the cooling and shipping as well as organic farming in California. He was an active member of the Catholic Church as a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, in Yuma, AZ. He was a member of the Elks and Moose lodges, a member of the Sheriff's Posse, and worked with various charities. His interests included family, hunting, gardening, and networking with an extensive group of friends. He was a devoted parent and spouse and was loved by all family and friends. His greatest accomplishments were his three daughters and five grandchildren. To them he will always be their HERO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don Luis and Dona Lupe Curiel, Jewell Miller, and Juan Francisco Gonzalez, and brother Danny Castillon.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Lourdes Gonzalez Curiel; his sister and brothers, Josefina (Carlos) Avila, Luis (Teresa) Curiel, Mike (Linda) Curiel, John (Toni) Curiel; daughters, Lisa (Michael) Brazeel, Tiffani (Randy) Voutt, Erin (Casey) Curiel Daves; grandchildren, Michael Edward Brazeel, Mackenzie Brazeel, Madison Brazeel, Randall Voutt, and Ryder Voutt; 57 nieces, nephews and numerous godchildren.
A wake will be held in his honor at Desert Valley Mortuary in Yuma, Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 5 to 9 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. Memorial mass will be held at Saint Francis of Assisi in Yuma on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 10 a.m. A gathering of friends and family are invited to celebrate his life at his residence 1483 S. Gateway Drive in Yuma, following Mondays mass.
Pallbearers are Michael Brazeel, Michael Edward Brazeel, Mackenzie Brazeel, Randy Voutt, Randal Voutt, Ryder Voutt, Cassey Daves, Dario Mejia. Honorary Pallbearers are Louis Curiel II, Michael Curiel, John Curiel, Luis Curiel III, Madison Brazeel, Alfonso Gonzalez, Lynn Thompson, Aaron Chun, Howard Storrs, Yariela Mejia.
Eddie had a huge presence on this earth, he was bigger than life! He will be remembered for his love of family, kindness of heart, and countless lifetime friends! He passed on his love of life to everyone he touched. Remember our Husband, Dad, Tata, Brother, Uncle, and friend with a smile on your face and a few choice words tucked in your pocket. It is said that the measure of a man's character is how many lives he touches.

Lourdes, Thank you for calling me when Eddie passed. He will always be in my heart as in yours. He was special to me and was always a close friend even if we lived miles apart. When we would talk it was always about wives and our daughters. He was one proud dad as I'm sure you all know. He was one of the most stand up guys I know and I will miss him although he will remain in my heart. I have asked God to bless you and the girls during this time of need.

My heart goes out to all of your family. Eddie was special to me and my family. He was my husbands mentor and good friend. I can't remember a time that he didn't make me laugh. Although, not to say he didn't embarrass me on many occasions. If there was ever a honor for the most giving thoughtful man, that would be given to Eddie Curiel. If will me missed.

Iam so sorry to hear about Eddie I have wonderful memories I last saw Eddie at Brownies having breakfast he of course picks up the tab and gives me extra money like if I was one of his kids I remember when I met Eddie I was around 19 and he would call me buckteeth once I got my braces off he would tell me how beautiful I was was and when I got divorced he asked me if everything was ok with me and my kids I will always have wonderful memories of Eddie through my young teenage mother years and now a grandma and great grandma I hope the same with u girls to keep the good and bad memories to help you through this very difficult time he will always have a space in my heart with a candle guiding him to heaven luv u girls

Dear Lourdes and family,
We will always be grateful to cousin Eddie for being there when we needed comfort after the death of our son. Of all our family members, he was the one who stepped up to call and follow-up in our time of need. He was the one that was always there for anyone in his family who might need him. Mr. Curiel came into my life when I was about 20 years old..I wasn't living the way I should have been and I was getting into trouble..He knew what I was doing and he was hard on me..I didn't like the guy that was calling me out on my BS..But through it all he treated me like a person..I am so thankful for him being put into my life..Now that I am older I realize that he really cared about me.. I would see him out somewhere and every time we end or talks with a big old Hug !! Mr. Curiel, You were a great friend to me.. Thank You
