FANNA V. MERRITT

1933 - 2016

Fanna Merritt, 82, of Anacortes, WA passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016 of Natural causes in San Juan Rehabilliatation & Care of Anacortes, WA. She was born April 1, 1933 in Roseburg, Oregon and was married to Leland R. (Lee) Merritt on March 6, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was a Bookkeeper/Co-Owner with husband Lee Merritt of Wilke Machine & Auto Parts in Brawley from 1964-1994. She was very artistic and had a passion for painting and had won several awards for her work. While she was able she enjoyed traveling, cooking, playing golf and always had a project going be it knitting, crocheting or needlepoint. In the last year she had enjoyed the new fad of coloring books for adults. Most will remember her for a witty sense of humor and infectious smile. Fanna was preceded in death by her mother, Ora Lee (Teague) Rickard; stepfather, Luther (Bill) Rickard; 2 babies (Charlie and Michelle Merritt); husband, Lee Merritt; sisters, Loma Zoe (Day) Claussen and Thelma (Day) DeWing. She is survived by her son, Wesley Merritt (Cindy) of Anacortes, WA; brothers, John Day and William Seth Day both of Plains, MT.; sister-in-law, Naelda Merritt of Porterville, CA; stepdaughter, Darlene Wenzell; step grandchildren, Eddie (Jessica) Wenzell, Brenda Smith, Brian Smith and 2 great-grandchildren Andrew and Lauren Wenzell along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on on Monday, March 7, 2016 at Frye Chapel Mortuary in Brawley from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be private.
