Captain George Roland Kemper Jr., 90, of Ocotillo, CA, passed away on August 16, 2023. He was a dedicated and respected individual who served his country with honor and dedication.

George, also known as Dad, Grandpa, and stepdad, was a giving and caring person. He was well-known and respected in our community, always there for others and never letting them down. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered in our hearts and minds. George will always be one of the few, the proud, the Marines. Semper Fi, "Always Faithful."

George is survived by his loving wife, Martha Kemper; sons, Gregory R. Kemper, Gordon R. Kemper, Gary R. Kemper, and Gerald R. Kemper; as well as his stepchildren, Ruth Gerardo, Jessica Sanchez, Elizabeth Nunez, and Abraham Nunez. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Joy Kemper; son, George R. Kemper III; brothers, Henry Kemper and Bobby Miller; sister, Earlene Miller; and grandson, Christopher Elkins.

Captain George Roland Kemper Jr. served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 22 years. He proudly served three deployments during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals. Throughout his military career, he received numerous commendations and medals, including expert rifles and pistols, medals for good conduct, and dedication to the Corps and service.

After retiring from the Marine Corps, George served the Imperial County School System for 12 years in various roles, including Truant Officer, Security Chief, Attendance Officer, and Attendance Security Supervisor. Following his retirement, he dedicated 18 years of service to the Imperial County School Board.

Graveside services, with honors, will be held at the Kemper Cemetery in Tiline, KY.
