GREGORIO (GOYO) BARROZO NUNEZ

It's with deep sorrow, but with great joy in heaven that we announce the passing of Gregorio B. Nunez. Goyo was born in the town of Santa Fe Jalisco to his parents Gregorio and Natalia Nuno. His childhood was spent in Puente Grande, Jalisco, Mex. At the age of 25, Goyo immigrated to the U.S. and worked under the Bracero program then proudly became a naturalized citizen at age 49. Goyo had a zest for life. He was a proud, honest, hard-working man with strong ethical standards. He was charitable, kind, devoted, and a loving family man. At 27 he married the love of his life, Augustina Taffolla. They settled in Brawley, CA, where they raised six children.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Augustina; daughter, Christina Nunez; and son, Tommy Nunez. Goyo is survived by his sons, Gregory Jr. (married to Esperanza Nunez), Ernest Nunez (married to Sandra Nunez), Rudy Nunez, Michael Nunez, and Mary Helen Taffolla Hoskins, whom he raised, loved and considered his daughter. His extensive loving family consisted of 18 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 10 great-greatgrandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces and with substantial friends who will deeply miss his absence.

Services will be held in Brawley, CA. Viewing and Rosary on Friday, January 24, 2024, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Frye Chapel. Mass preceding burial on January 25, 2024, at St. Margaret Mary Church at 10 a.m. Burial site at Riverview cemetery.
