IRMA PRECIADO Obituary

IRMA PRECIADO

Oct. 29, 1969 – Dec. 14, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Irma Preciado, who went to be with the Lord at the age of 55. Irma, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend, passed away six hours after a hernia surgery, having previously beaten stage 3 cancer five years ago. Her life was a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering kindness, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she touched.

Irma was born on October 29, 1969, in Calexico, California, to Luis and Alicia Corvera. She attended elementary school in El Centro and graduated from Central Union High School in 1987. Irma went on to study at Imperial Valley College before earning a bachelor's degree in liberal studies with a bilingual education credential from San Diego State University, Calexico Campus. In 1996, she graduated from the University of La Verne with a Master of Education with a special emphasis in classroom guidance.

Irma dedicated more than 30 years to educating young minds in the El Centro Elementary School District. Teaching was not just her career but her passion. She found immense joy in inspiring her students, always sharing her radiant smile and patient heart. During the last five years, she also found fulfillment in volunteering with various cancer support groups, sharing her experiences and offering love and hope to others.

Irma cherished her family above all else. Her amazing children, Julian and Loren, were the light of her life, and her husband of 31 years, Richard, was her unwavering partner in love and life. Together, they shared a bond that began in high school and flourished over four decades.

Irma's kindness, grace, and selflessness were unmatched. She never hesitated to put others before herself, even amid her own challenges. Her beautiful smile and encouraging spirit made everyone feel valued and loved. She leaves behind a legacy of strength and compassion that will forever inspire those who knew her. Though her time with us feels far too short, Irma's love and memory will continue to guide and uplift all who were fortunate to know her.

Irma was preceded in death by her father, Luis Corvera; her father-in-law, Alex Preciado; her sisters, Julie Hernandez, Lety Labrada and Norma Smith. She is survived by her children, Julian and Loren Preciado; her husband, Richard Preciado; her mother, Alicia Corvera; her mother-in-law, Irene Preciado; her sisters, Alicia Simon, Alice Quesada, Evelyn Smietana, Diana Chavez, Gloria Corvera and Alma Parker; her brothers, Eddie, David, Louis and Luis Corvera; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law. Irma shared a loving bond with her siblings from her fathers previous marriages, further enriching her family with love and cherished memories.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support during this difficult time and looks forward to celebrating Irma's remarkable life with all who loved her. A celebration of Irma's life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church. The viewing will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the Rosary at 10 a.m., Eulogy at 10:45 a.m., and Mass at 11 a.m. A reception will immediately follow at the Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse.

For those unable to attend in person, Irma's celebration of life will be livestreamed at https://www.facebook. com/elcentrocatholic.
