JACK VIRGIL
WILLIAMS

Aug. 18, 1927 - Mar. 16, 2011

Jack Virgil Williams, 83, of El Centro passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011.
Jack was born in Calexico, California, graduating from Calexico High School in 1945. Upon graduation, he was immediately drafted into the United States Army, where he served for 2 years. He met his wife, Celeste, in the summer of 1947 and they were married on December 11, 1948. Jack was subsequently called back into the service as a reservist during the Korean war. Upon discharge, he was employed by the Imperial Irrigation District. In 1954, he went to work for McCabe Cattle Co. and La Brucherie Ranches where he remained employed until 1979. In subsequent years, he was involved in home development projects throughout the valley, for Imperial Valley Bank, El Centro Regional Medical Center and for the Redevelopment Agency in the City of Calexico. Throughout his life, Jack was involved in the following organizations; past President of the Stockmans Club; member of the El Centro Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees, Elks, Eagles and Moose Lodges, Los Vigilantes, Shriners International, the Masonic Lodge of Imperial Valley, Blue Angel Golf Tournament, 4-H Lamb Leader, California Mid-Winter Fair Board, American Legion, the Claddagh Club, Imperial Valley Historic Society, El Centro Chamber of Commerce, and the El Centro Planning Commission. Although he thoroughly enjoyed his involvement in the community throughout his lifetime, his greatest love was for his family. Jack never missed events that his daughters were involved in and took great delight in the many accomplishments of his grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Charles Williams; and mother, Eona Kelly Williams; brothers, Charles Clare Williams, Leonard Williams and Vernon Williams; father-in-law, James (Jack) Frost and mother-in-law, Esther Bradshaw Frost.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Episcopal Church in El Centro. Mass will be Friday, March 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Episcopal Church. Burial services will be private.
He leaves behind his loving family; wife, Celeste Frost Williams; daughters; Melanie (Michael) Jackson of Redlands, CA; Cydney (Tommy) Mills of El Centro, CA; Kimberly (Tom) Key of Liberty, TX; Melissa (Dave) Berry of Eagle, ID and Jacqueline (Scott) Schaefer of Edmond, OK; 11 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Elizabeth Mailheau of Dewey, AZ, Pegi Murrell of Lockport, NY, Shirley Thomas of Porterville, CA, and many nieces and nephews.

Dear Aunt Celeste, I wish I could be with you to help you through this time of sorrow. Unfortunately, I am too far away, but I hope you will find comfort in the love that you and Uncle Jack shared for so many years. He was a wonderful man, and he loved you dearly. I have been fortunate in these past few years to have enjoyed so many "chats" with him on the phone, and I'll always cherish the evening Steve and I sat pool-side with the two of you in Bakersfield, drinking wine and laughing into early morning. My thoughts are with you, and I will keep a candle burning for Uncle Jack to find his way safely into Heaven, where I'm sure Bob is "keeping a stool" for him. I love you. Deanna, Steve, Tom, Christine and Emily.

Much love and prayers to my brother Jack, Celeste and girls. Our thoughts are with you, may you rest in peace. The distance between us,(Pegi Murrell, Lorna West, Dan Murrell, Deanna Dorward),in Lockport, Ny, makes things difficult to be with you. But you will always be in our hearts. Love to all and God Bless.

On the night of my graduation from IVC instead of going out to some party my brother took me to Jack and Celeste's house and we spent the evening with them. It was a night I remember well and will never forget. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Hi Michelle;
Yet I met your father only once during a golf tournment in Mexicali, I have to say I really enjoyed meeting him. We talked about you and what I said actually made him very teary-eyed, and I would like to share that with you if possible. My e-mail address is: [email protected]
Thanks,
Ernie Montano

Jack Virgil Williams - my Dad's favorite cousin & friend. Thank you for enriching our lives with so much love and laughter. What a fine man who loved his family dearly and showed it, spoke his mind, and stood as a pillar in the community. Where ever you were, your charisma filled the room. I can still hear Celeste and our family giggle at your jokes. You set such a fine example for everyone in our family. A man who lived his life with class, respect, and unconditional love. May God bless your family for generations to come....the world is a better place because of Jack Williams. Celeste...I know Jack's love will forever surround you. I have always been in "awe" of your love for each other…simply beautiful! A great woman beside a great man! May God continue to bless you and your family!

Melissa: I am so sorry to learn of your father passing away. I played golf with him in Mexicali and enjoyed his company very much. I knew my late father from when then went to Calexico HS back when. I met you at IVC in 1977 ( you were a hair stylist), and talked to your Dad about our friendship when we golfed in 1988.
May your Dad rest in peace.
