Joe Guebara Godinez Sr., 80, of Brawley went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2022. He was born to Benito and Francisca Godinez on March 19, 1942. Joe owned and operated Joes Sheet Metal for over 30 years. He also owned and operated Brawley's Hacienda Market. Joe's Store along with his wife, Mary Godinez for many years fostering many friendships. Joe loved playing his guitar in his spare time as well as listening to Mexican trios and oldies. He enjoyed spending time at his sheet metal shop working on his 57 Chevy and listening to the Dodgers on the radio. He was a tender-hearted loving husband and father with his own special sense of humor. His children admired his calm, humble ways and beautiful spirit.

Joe became a man of faith devoting his life to the Lord. He leaves a peaceful legacy of honesty and commitment to everyones lives he touched and will surely be missed but will never be forgotten. 2 Timothy 4:7, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benito and Francisca Godinez; brothers, Cirildo Godinez, Cenobio Godinez, Manuel Godinez and Raymond Godinez; sisters, Mercedes Godinez, Maria Luisa Oaxaca and Lourdes Martinez.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; sister, Lupe Espinoza; daughters, Suzie G. Saavedra, Veronica G. Sanchez and Nancy Sabala; sons, Joe Godinez Jr. and Jesse Godinez; grandchildren, Jackie Dexter, Jamie Godinez, Joe Godinez III, Roman Sanchez, Celine Sanchez, Joshua Godinez, Nathan Godinez, Jude Godinez, Rene Sabala and Raquel Sabala; great-grandchildren, Jordynn Tapia, Jay Tapia and Sophia Dexter.

Services will be held on April 14, 2022 at the Assembly of God Church, 580 C St. in Brawley from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery 4700 Hovley Rd. in Brawley.
