MARIA AGATEP Obituary

Maria Rosario Agatep, also known as Nana Chayo, was born on December 13, 1928 in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico to Ernesto and Francisca Gerardo. She was the second of five children. She married Lucas R. Agatep in 1961. Rosario passed away at her home in Westmorland on September 6, 2021 with family at her side.
Rosario came to the United States in 1963 and worked hard to support her family. She spent many years as a migrant farmworker, working alongside her family. She was baptized as one of Jehovahs Witness in 1972. A faithful and active member in the South Spanish Congregation in Brawley, she showed reliance upon her God Jehovah until the very end of her life. Many friends and family got to be on the receiving end of Rosario's hospitality. Nobody ever left her house unfed.
Rosario was preceded in death by her husband Lucas; grandson Carlos Cital; and her daughter Beatriz Reina. She is survived by her daughter Myra Cital (Leo); sons Lucas Agatep (Georgina), Juan Agatep (Lupe), and Felipe Agatep (Virginia); son-in-law, Ramon Reina; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
