MARIA OBESO Obituary
Dec. 27, 1958 – July 6, 2025
Maria Elena Obeso, "Hung up her Tennies" and went to be with our Lord. She passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was a beloved wife, mother, Nana, sister and friend.
Born on December 27, 1958, in El Centro to Albert and Geraldine Sanchez, where she attended local schools and completed her education, graduating from Imperial High School in 1977.
In September 1978, Maria married her high school sweetheart, Jaime Obeso. Their marriage was an inspiration and amazing to witness until the passing of her beloved husband.
Maria was not only a devoted and loving wife and mother, but she also dedicated her life to God. Maria was a faithful parishioner of First Southern Baptist Church, where she found strength, community, and joy. Her faith was her foundation, and she lived it fully through service, kindness, and humility.
Maria was known for her warm heart, strong spirit, and unwavering dedication to her family. She loved her grandbabies to the moon and back. Maria was a blessing whose love extended beyond her own family, welcoming friends and neighbors with open arms and an open heart.
She is survived by her children: daughter, Ida Obeso-Martinez, and son- in-law, Omar Martinez; son, Jaime Obeso Jr., and daughter-in-law, Priscilla Obeso; son-in-law, Ricardo Navarro; grandchildren: Gianna Navarro, Ricardo Navarro, Nicholas Navarro, Jaime Obeso III, Audrina Obeso, Julian Obeso, Brittany Martinez, Alexa Martinez, and Omar Martinez Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Leah Wren; siblings: Tricia Grijalva, Albert Sanchez, and Julie Turner; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jaime Obeso and her parents, Albert and Geraldine Sanchez.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Church service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Faith Assembly Church in Imperial at 9 a.m. Interment immediately to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

My daughter, and I met this lovely woman in Costco, a couple of years ago. We were looking at the same shirt, and she started talking to us. We found out that we all knew the Lord Jesus as our personal Savior. We were so excited! We finally had to say goodbye, and gave hugs. My daughter and I have never forgotten her.

My sister, will forever be in my heart.
She wasn´t ready to hang her tennis shoes up, but, The Lord Jesus Christ knew best. I´ll miss her so very much. But I have Faith that one day, we shall see each other again. I love You Merlena My Little Sister
