MARJORIE HOLMES Obituary


Marjorie Mae Holmes, 97, of Carlsbad, CA passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020. Marjorie was born on May 23, 1923 in Santa Ana, CA. Marjorie graduated from Central Union High School with the Class of 1942. Marjorie worked at Central Union High School as a secretary and later worked for the Southern California Gas Company until her third child and then was a homemaker after that. After the kids were raised, Marjorie worked at Imperial Valley College and Foothills Bible Book Store. She was a member of the El Centro Church of the Nazarene until she and Kenneth relocated to Carlsbad, CA in 2014 to be closer to their children. Marjorie was preceded in death by her late husband, Kenneth A. Holmes; parents, Charles Achilles Thomas and Jessie Mae Thomas; and two younger siblings, Harold Ray Thomas and Jane Ruth Williams. Marjorie is survived by her three children, Randall N. Holmes (Los Angeles, CA), Roger L. Holmes (Oceanside, CA), Christy and Will Paty (San Diego) and four granddaughters. Christy's daughters: Elise Paty (Cambodia), Ann Paty (Long Beach, CA), Leah Paty (San Diego, CA) and Roger's daughter: Alexandra Holmes (La Jolla, CA). Marjorie will be laid to rest at Miramar National Cemetery. The family suggests, in memory of Marjorie, donations be made to The American Brain Foundation (americanbrain foundation.org) OR Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarrior project.org)
