I attended Central Union High School. I saw Jay rush for over 200 yards against Central in 1978. I believe he was a somphomore! U ran into him at a few parties and there was never any of that Central vs Brawley rivalry stuff away in between the lines. I got play with Jay at IVC. To get us fired up Jay would put on a old man rubber mask and dance Devos' song, "Crack That Whip." It helped us who wound up just a bit too tight before a game or at halftime. It got us to relax and have fun, after all we were playing just a game. During practice I was a corner and Jay had moved to a guard. On sweeps to my side, sometimes Jay would be the pulling guard, and my job was ti turn the play in. That meant Jay and were going to collide. I loved those plays and I am sure Jay did too. We eould collide and everything would go black. When I would regsin my composure from the collision, he eould have a smile on his like loved it. Oh, the memories. I ran into him years later and he was still the same as I was. I will miss Jay and always had mass respect for him as a man! RIP Jay!
