PEDRO SALGADO Obituary

PEDRO JAIME

SALGADO

Sept. 12, 1981 – Dec, 30, 2024

Beloved son, brother, cousin, and nephew, Pedro "Peter" Jaime Salgado, 43, of Holtville, California, was called to his heavenly home after an illness at Sharp Grossmont Hospital on December 30, 2024, with his family present. Peter was born September 12, 1981, in El Centro to Pedro Sr. and Alicia Salgado. Though he was born with a developmental disability, Peter brought joy and love to everyone who knew him and provided an example of determination, resilience, and compassion.

Peter attended local Holtville schools and graduated from Holtville High School in 1999. With the assistance of the San Diego Regional Center, he worked for several organizations through ARC. Peter pursued his dreams by enrolling at Imperial Valley College, where he earned his Associate of Arts degree with Distinction in July of 2024. With his sights set on furthering his education, Peter applied to San Diego State University to pursue a bachelor's degree. His ultimate goal was to have advocated for people with disabilities, using his experiences and passion to inspire meaningful change and make a difference in the lives of others.

Peter with his contagious smile and cheerful sense of humor brought joy to the lives of family, friends, coworkers, and classmates. He loved singing and dancing and was proud of his Mexican and Filipino ancestry. Peter enjoyed video games and spent many summers of his youth playing Super Mario Bros with his brother. Anyone who knew him could tell Peter was an avid supporter of the Chargers, Lakers, and SDSU Aztecs.

A faithful Catholic, Peter loved attending Mass, reading scripture, and deepening his faith and understanding of our Lord. He loved discussing his faith with friends and family and learning as much as he could about God and His plan. Peter was proud to be named after Saint Peter and found strength and inspiration in his unwavering faith despite setbacks and struggles.

Peter is survived by his parents, Pedro J. Salgado and Alicia P. Salgado; sister, Teresa M. Meza (Manuel); brother, Juan V. Salgado (Jennifer); nephew, Benjamin Sandor Meza; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces.

Services will be held on January 31, 2025, visitation at 8:30 a.m. and Rosary at 9:30 a.m. at Frye Chapel, 338 W. Aten Rd, Imperial. Mass at Saint Mary's Catholic Church at 11 a.m. followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Peter was an amazing person who will truly be missed. Grateful for the opportunity to have met and collaborated with him. I still remember him cheering me on as I gave my first presentation at SDPF and in awe of how effortless he addressed the audience. His legacy will continue to inspire the disability community. My heart and thoughts are with Peter´s family and loved ones.
