Nov. 28, 1939 – May 15, 2025
Petra was born on November 28, 1939, in Canelas, Durango, Mexico. Surrounded by her loving family, Petra Valles passed away on May 15, 2025, at the age of 85, in Brawley, California.
Petra retired from a long and rewarding occupation in housekeeping. She enjoyed learning from each and every one of her bosses, to include Jo Shields, Marilyn Boggust, Louise Wiley, Dr. Ehman, and Sacred Heart/St. Margaret Mary's priest residence.
Petra was a devout Catholic and led a life of a selfless servant locally and globally. She was a member of the Guadalupanas and La Union Mutualista de San Jose. She also contributed to many children's organizations, such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, and other children's charities in other countries.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tomas and Ascencion; and her brothers, Pablo, Ruben, and Israel.
Petra is survived by her brothers, Angel and Tomas; sisters, Alicia and Estela; and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved unconditionally and considered all of them her godchildren.
Viewing will be held at Frye Chapel in Brawley, CA, on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 3 to 6 p.m., with a Rosary at 4 p.m. Mass will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, at St. Margaret Mary Church at 9 a.m., with burial following at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley, CA. A reception will be held thereafter at Hidalgo Hall.
Petra "Nina" Valles is incredibly missed, but her memory will forever live in all who were blessed by her love.
