Yvonne,
My heart is heavy but also happy. Ray is no longer in pain and he is where he wanted to be, in heaven. I'm really happy I was able to visit with him before his passing. He expressed how much he loved you, his children and of course the Optimist Club.
I will miss my friend very much, but I know he is in a better place.
My deepest sympathies

Dearest Yvonne,
There are never the right words at a time such as this. I know there is relief at the end of his suffering but great sorrow and loneliness at the end of your years together on this earth.
May the Lord give you strength, courage, and loving support in these difficult days.
Ray will be missed. His quick wit, heartfelt statements and always-moving letters to the editor are some of the things I will remember about him. But first and foremost I will remember his great love for you and his outspoken pride in you and your work.
My condolences to you and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Yvonne, our thoughts and prayers are with you and family. Ray was a really neat person and will be missed by many. Will always remember the "Empty Nester" nights of good food and fellowship. We really enjoyed the talks he gave at church. He was a thoughtful and giving person.

Ray has known my family since before my birth. He loved knowledge; especially the unique facts that made you think. He loved Science and nature. He and his wife had beautiful and unique pets they loved to share on visits. He loved a really good joke. He was great with textiles. He loved John Cougar Mellencamps 'Paper and Fire'. He made time spent with him fun, educational and liberating. He really loved life with his beautiful, strong, intellegent wife, Yvonne, beyond expression...as we all do. My heart and hand are with you. Gina MiChele

Yvonne, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Ray was one of kind. He was one of the most memorable people I have ever had the privledge of knowing. I think about him often and enjoyed the time we knew each other in El Centro. I have only fond memories of Ray. May the Lord be with you in your hour of grief. Ray is one of the people I am looking forward to meeting again in the next life.

During my two terms as a county supervisor, Ray and I met to discuss several issues over that time span, and we disagreed on several key issues facing the county and its direction. However, Ray, in his opposition, was always a gentleman in our discussions. He was open, honest, sincere and up front in his views. Even though he opposed me in my initial election, he did not hold that against me when we were discussing issues. He was civil, knowledgeable and firm but never vindictive or of ugly mood, even though we did not often agree. I was always delighted when he called and asked to meet and discuss issues because I knew that I would learn something and be talking with a true gentleman who cared for his community. If our present day politicos at the federal and state level had Ray's demeanor, concern, and philosophy, our world would be a better place. The last time, we met, he had indicated that he did not think he had long to go before meeting the Lord, but he was still on his mission and forging forward in his beliefs. We will all be worse off when person of Ray's ilk passes on to the Father.
I, for one, will miss Ray. God rest his soul.
