RICHARD "RICK" JOHN JIMENEZ
July 27, 1963 - Jan. 3, 2013
Richard (Rick) John Jimenez, 49, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2013, after a brave nine month battle against cancer.
He was born July 27, 1963 in El Centro, CA to Ricardo and Mae Jimenez. Rick graduated from Central Union High School and San Diego State University where he received a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration in 1992.
Rich was an "awesome" and beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, Godfather, and friend...a true gift to all who knew him.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Ricardo Jimenez Jr., and sister, Joyce Ann (Jimenez) Bormann. He is survived by his loving mother, Mae Jimenez; siblings, Robert Jimenez (Boise, ID) Sharon Jimenez Hagerty (Sacramento), and Susan Jimenes Pipkin (El Centro); and many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.
Rick was last employed by Desert Auto Plaza as a sales representative. One of Rick's many passions included photography, and was an active member of the IV Photography Club. In addition, Rick was an avid reader, enjoyed music, fishing, sports, designing artistic men's jewelry, taking long drives to the ocean, Sequoias, scenic viewpoints, and always meeting new friends wherever the road took him. Most of all, Rick cherished his time with family and friends. With his unconditional love, contagious laughter, and brilliant sense of humor, he will be sincerely missed by all who filled his life.
With the support and care Rick received while at home by his devoted attendant and home health nurse, Erika and Christina, respectively, and dedicated staff at the El Centro Regional Medical Center, Sharp Hospital and Parkview Hospice Home in San Diego, Rick lived a year filled with many blessings. Rick's memorial services will include a rosary to be held Thursday evening, January 24, 2013 at 7 p.m., and a funeral mass to be held Friday, January 25, 2013 at 1 p.m., both at St. Mary's Church in El Centro, CA.
In lieu of flowers, Rick's family has requested that donations be made (specifically for Oncology and Hospice needs) in honor of Richard John Jimenez to Sharp Health Care Foundation, 8695 Spectrum Center Blvd., San Diego, CA 92123 or El Centro Regional Medical Center Foundation, P.O. Box 4245, El Centro, CA 92244.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance …
I am grateful for the few moments that I spent with Rick during the end of his season where he expressed that he understood the purpose under the heaven and that indeed there is a time to die, a time to weep, but also a time to accept and be joyous about a new beginning.
Please accept my sincere sympathy at the loss of a dear soul. Rick was a valuable gift and is now a guide for us to live by.
I am sure that your heart is heavy and the pain of losing Rick is unbearable.
God will take care of you. No matter what may be the test, God will take care of you; Lean, weary one, upon His breast, God will take care of you.
Your Friend Rolina

To the Jimenez Family,
What an absolute Honor it was to get to know Rick, and to be part of his journey! During his time of need Rick always prayed for "all persons" that were confined in the hospital.. He was compassionate, caring and quite funny! My take away message after each visit always ended with "RIGHT ON" with Rick, and truly he always was Right on! Continued prayers of comfort are coming your way, and many Thanks for the opportunity of sharing such an intimate journey with you and my Buddy who is now resting and at peace!
