ROSARIO RAMIREZ Obituary

ROSARIO R. RAMIREZ

Feb. 12, 1924 Feb. 13, 2024

At the age of 100, Rosario R. Ramirez peacefully passed away in the home built by her late husband, Agustin Ramirez, on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

Born in Coachella, California, to Rosario and Jose Romero, Rosario was one of 16 siblings. Rosario enjoyed playing the piano, dancing, cooking, tending her garden, sewing beautiful clothing for her daughters, and camping with her family in Ensenada. Her path crossed with her future husband at a dance in Mexicali, leading to their marriage on October 21st, 1951. A skilled carpenter, Agustin built their home in Calexico, where Rosario lovingly raised their five children: Agustin II, Sandra, Maria del Carmen, Anna Lisa, and Silda. The couple shared 63 years of marriage until Agustin's passing in their family home in June 2015.

Active in the community, she was President in the Band Booster Committee for De Anza Jr. High and Calexico High School during her children's attendance. Additionally, Rosario served as the President and member of Calexico's Women's Improvement Club for numerous years and volunteered at local election precincts. The state legislature recognized Mrs. Rosario Ramirez as Woman of the Year in 1990. Surrounded by the love, care, and dedication of her two youngest daughters, Anna Lisa and Silda, with the support of their families, Rosario peacefully reached the milestone of 100 years in her cherished home.

Her legacy lives on through her five children and their spouses Agustin II (son) & Alicia Ramirez, Sandra (daughter) & Manuel Burgos +, Carmen (daughter) & Eddie Hernandez, Anna Lisa (daughter) & Lewis Pacheco, and Silda (daughter) & Santiago Valdez. Along with her 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Rosario Ramirez will be remembered as a radiant presence within the community and among her loved ones.
