VIOLA E. BECKER

1917 - 2017

Viola Becker, 99, of El Centro passed away March 6, 2017. Services will be held Monday, March 13 at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, El Centro. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, El Centro. Viola Becker, one of seven children, was born in Hankinson, North Dakota. She attended school in Hankinson. After completion of a secretarial course, she worked as a secretary in various offices. Wherever she lived, her church was the center of her life. She taught Sunday school for many years. She served on committees and accepted many responsibilities. Viola's contributions to church potlucks were legendary. Viola was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Arnold Becker and her son, Richard (Dick) Becker. She is survived by her daughter Ruth and son-in-law, Detlev Hapke of Nuremberg, Germany and daughter-in-law, Judy Becker of Newport Beach, CA. Four grandchildren also survive her: Heidi and her husband Steve Hekman of Costa Mesa, CA; Richard, Ingrid and Erik Hapke and their partners, all residing in Germany. Viola was very proud of her six great-grandchildren. The family is especially grateful for the loyal and loving care given to her by Lori Bannister and the kindenss and patience of the staff at Vintage Village, El Centro.
