WILBUR STILL Obituary
Aug. 2, 1933 – Feb. 6, 2026
Wilbur Jackson Still, known to many as Jack, passed away peacefully in El Centro on February 6, 2026, at the age of 92. He was born on August 2, 1933, in Calexico, and was raised in Calipatria, where he attended school.
Jack's commitment to country was evident when he joined the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, Jack returned to the Imperial Valley where he worked for the Dearborn family. This experience led to a remarkable 40 year career as a lead worker with the California Department of Transportation, or CalTrans.
In his younger years, Jack had a passion for working on cars. As he grew older, he found joy in simpler pleasures like reading, playing cards, spending time with family, and watching his favorite John Wayne movies and other Westerns.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Maura Still, and siblings, Betty, Juanita, and Ruth. He is survived by his beloved children, Mercedes, Joe, Rosie, Dorothy and Jackson. He leaves a legacy through his five grandchildren, Anastacia, Jessica, Tristan, Zachary, and Trevor; his three great-grandchildren, Marcus, Parker, and Maya, and one great-great-grandchild, Adeline.
Wilbur Jackson Still will be missed by all who knew him. As we mourn his passing we also celebrate a life well-lived, marked by hard work, dedication, and a love for his family. May his memory continue to inspire us all.
Memorial services will be at Western Avenue Baptist Church in Brawley, California, on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 10 a.m. A short reception will follow in the hall.
