WILLIAM ESTES Obituary

WILLIAM SAMMY ESTES SR.

Nov. 19, 1946 Feb. 27, 2023

William Estes, known by all as Sam, 76, of Imperial, California, passed away at home on February 27, 2023. Sam was born in Calexico, California, on November 19, 1946, to William and Eloise Estes.

After graduating high school in Chula Vista, CA, Sam headed to the Imperial Valley to work. He worked as a stitcher for Vessey Company in the Imperial Valley as well as Salinas Marketing Co-Op in Salinas, CA. After working in the agricultural industry, Sam went on to work for US Gypsum from 1990 until his retirement in 2009. Sam was known throughout his life for helping those in need, always being generous with his time and money for those that needed a helping hand. Sam's favorite way to pass time was playing pool until his local pool hall closed down. Sam was a caring grandfather always attending his granddaughters Samantha and Jocelyn's extracurricular activities. Sam especially enjoyed taking his granddaughters to lunch with the Golden Corral being the restaurant of choice when the girls were young and then later Celia's becoming their favorite place to eat. He also enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog Mickey.

Sam is survived by his son, William Sammy Estes Jr. (Trisha) of Imperial, CA; granddaughters, Samantha and Jocelyn Estes of Imperial, CA; sister, Jacquelynn Hissem of Ramona, CA; and nephew, Scott Hissem of Ramona, CA.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. at Frye Chapel & Mortuary, 338 W. Aten Rd. in Imperial, CA on Sunday, April 2, 2023.

I would like to say how sorry to William Estes family. I known Sam for a very long time. I went to school with his son. It wasn't until later on that l got to know Sam, we became good friends. He will be missed a lot. I know Sam had such a big heart and always there when any of his friends were in need of help. I would like to say one thing. It was a honor to have known a wonderful man he was truly a good friend. I will always remember the good and funny times we had. Sam l will miss you very much.
