Arthur Crews Obituary

Services for Arthur Eugene 'Gene' Crews 84 will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday February 5 2004 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Reverend Randy Crews and Reverend .Rex Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery. Mr. Crews died on Tuesday February 3 2004 at the West Tennessee Transitional Center. He was born in Paris TN on January 14 1920 the son of the late James Arthur and Ellen Jones Crews. He was a member of the West Paris Baptist Church in Paris TN. He was a WWII Army veteran serving from 1941 through 1945. He was a member of the 29th Infantry Division which was the first division to land on Omaha Beach on 'D' Day. He was a founding member of the V.F.W. Post 1889 in Paris TN and was a member of the Masonic Lodge 108 of Paris TN. Mr. Crews was retired from Salant Salant Manufacturing in Paris TN where he worked in the cutting department. Mr. Crews had a love for youth sporting activities and enjoyed watching his grandsons participate in many sporting events. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals for many years. Mr. Crews is survived by his wife Flossie Crews of Jackson; a son Art Crews and wife Norma of Jackson; a daughter Joanne Chappell of Paris TN; a brother Coleman Crews and wife Idell of Paris TN and four grandsons Jim Chappell Colin Crews Jesse Crews and Gene Crews. Pallbearers to serve will be Colin Crews Jesse Crews Arthur Eugene 'Gene' Crews II Jim Chappell Dennis Mitchell and Jimmy Duke. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday February 4 2004 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors. Arrington Funeral Directors 148 W. University Parkway 731-668-1111
