Charles Strange Obituary
Charles "Andy" Strange, 87, of Lafayette, passed away at 2:39 pm, Sunday, September 11, 2016 at IU Health Arnett.
Born March 5, 1929 in Bramble, IN, he was the son of the late Roscoe and Ella (Williams) Strange. Andy graduated from Loogootee High School in 1945 and went on to join the United States Marine Corp, honorably serving in the Korean War.
His marriage was to Marianne P. Strange and she preceded him in death on August 14, 2011.
Andy retired from Farm Bureau Insurance after 40+ years where he served as a Regional Claims Manager. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Eagles, and American Legion Post #11. He was an avid golfer, power walker, loved to travel, and enjoyed playing cards. Andy was very proud of his military service and his family. He was proud of his roots, coming from a small town. Andy was always interested in where people were from.
He is survived by his four children, Patricia "Patti" Graff (husband: Thomas) of Lafayette, James Ronald Strange (wife: Gayle) of Lafayette, Lisa Strange of West Lafayette, and David A. Strange (wife: Lynne) of Lafayette; two sisters, Frances Trout of Loogootee, and Camilla Summers of Loogootee; one brother, Phillip Strange of Loogootee; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Preceding him in death with his parents and wife are a brother, John Gordon Strange; and two sisters, Doris Smith and Colleta Strange.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm, Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Hippensteel Funeral Home, with a Rosary Service at 4:45 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, Friday, September 16 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Fr. Eric Underwood officiating. Rite of Interment to follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park, with Military Honors. In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or American Heart Association. Share memories and condolences online at www.hippensteelfuneralservice.com
