St. Vincent Kokomo - It is with great sadness that we, the husband, children and relatives of Cindy S. Fischer announce her passing. With husband and children at her side, Cindy died at St. Vincent Kokomo of complications of an extended illness on Christmas Day, Dec. 25th 2019 at 8:23 p.m.

Cindy lived an extraordinary life. While growing up in the great city of Chicago, she often helped out in the family newspaper business where she developed a strong work ethic, caring for her community, and since of adventure. That was sometimes by choice and sometimes by the encouragement of her very strict aunt Stella.

Cindy's family had strong ties in Wisconsin as well, taking her on her next big adventure. Cindy became one of the first woman snowmobile racers. She did so well that she picked up a corp. sponsor but following a bad accident, decided to retire early.

Cindy was a great singer, first practicing in the church choir in the Chicago Archdiocese, again encouraged by her aunt Stella. She put together a local band while in Wisconsin and began singing country music at different events. She eventually was asked to sing at the local Fair. After much local success, Cindy and the band decided to go to Nashville and try to pick up a contract with a major recording studio. After much rejection, they found that Loretta Lynn, and Conway Twitty had a talent managing company in Nashville. They tried out and she was signed to a contract without her band. In the beginning she opened for some very successful singers such as Crystal Gayle and Tanya Tucker. She did so well that another agency out of Las Vegas picked up her contract. They signed her original band as well and put them on the road with their own bus and tour schedule. However, it was a difficult life and Cindy decided it was not going to work for her and she gave it up.

While taking some time to rest and plan for a new career, Cindy applied for a marketing job with General Growth. With all of her past experience it was a perfect fit. She worked there two years while always having an eye on the Bowling Green TV stations news reporters' job, which eventually came open. She became a TV news reporter and was eventually given an opportunity to host a very successful morning show. She truly loved that career but had another opportunity to work for a mall management company owned by Mel and Herb Simon who also owned the Indiana Pacers. She went on to become marketing director for two malls in Indiana, Tippecanoe Mall in Lafayette and Markland Mall in Kokomo the Simon brothers also used her as a trouble shooter to help properties that were not doing so well. She excelled in her position and won top honors and many national awards for her hard work, kindness to the community, and the people that lived there. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, and canning, but cherished time spent with family most of all.

Cindy is survived by her adoring husband and best friend, David Fischer; children, Julie (Brandon) Gardner, Kenny (JoAnn) Sharp, Carol Desoto, Jerry Strok, Steve (Michelle) Sharp, and Doug (Crystal) Sharp; grandchildren, Tony, Adam, Jacob, Noah, Nika, Ireland, Colin, Madison, Tommy, and Christian; and great-grandchild, Dominic.

She was preceded in death by her Father Chester Kosiek, beloved Mother Vera Kosiek and of course, her very strict aunt Stella, as well as numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She will be greatly missed by many more as she lived truly a remarkable life.

Cindy was in the care of the best medical team of Doctors a person could ask for with a complete staff of the most caring, hardest working, and talented nurses at St. Vincent Kokomo.

Cindy will be laid to rest in her beloved city of Chicago, IL, with a private family graveside ceremony in Resurrection Cemetery where many of her beloved family members already rest.
