Elizabeth L. Myer

Elizabeth L. Myer, 94, of Lafayette, died at Regency Place Healthcare in Lafayette 9:50 PM Saturday January 28, 2012. She was born in Lafayette December 8, 1917, the daughter of the late Joseph and Clara Rost Held and was a lifelong Lafayette resident.

She married Leon C. Sewell in Lafayette October 20, 1933, and he preceded her in death February 24, 1963. Elizabeth later married Walter G. Myer in Lafayette June 28, 1968, and he died March 22, 1996.

Elizabeth had worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co. for 7 years, and later worked for J.C. Penney for 22 years before her retirement.

She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church; a 50 year member of the American Legion Post 11 Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Navy Club Ship 11.

Surviving is a daughter, Mary Phyllis Westfall of Lafayette, IN.; a son, Thomas Sewell (wife Jacquie) of Lafayette, IN.; 2 sisters, Theresa DeLong and Josephine Slipher, both of Lafayette, IN. and 2 sister-in-laws Irene Held of Lafayette, IN. and Frances Held of Portland, OR. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren Sheri Herald (husband Jimmy) of Melbourne, FL.; Gary Vyse (wife Debra) of Lafayette, IN.; Lisa Veto (husband Rob) of Palm Bay, FL.; Jeff Westfall (wife Trina) of Frisco, TX.; Tracy Campbell of Lafayette, IN.; Leslie Sewell of Lafayette, IN.; Craig Sewell (wife Jane) of Granite Shoals, TX.; Maryanna Casson (husband Daryl) of Bremerton, WA. ; 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, James Lee Sewell, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Friends may call from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM Thursday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Fr. Eric Underwood officiating, with interment to follow in St. Boniface Cemetery.

If friends desire, memorials may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

We all have such great memories growing up on Davis Drive. Betty's picture is as pretty as she was 50 years ago!! Like Penny said it best The Davis Drive moms are now in Heaven drinking their coffee and hot teas together! My son Brayton is a friend of Alex, Bettys great grandaughter its asmall world as I just found out in the last year or so Gary's daughter is Angie which I have seen for years at the baseballfield. ! I have also seen MaryPhyllis over years too along with Tom's Daughter Leslie!! Who would know our paths would cross in so many ways being neighbors 56 years ago!
Love to the family as I know too well how hard it is too lose a mother/grandmother!!!!
