Evaro Krause Obituary

Evaro Krause

West Lafayette - Evaro Dena (Franzen) Krause, 85, of West Lafayette, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 12, 2018, surrounded by her family. She had been a resident of West Lafayette since 1970.

Evaro was born on May 19, 1932 in Beatrice, Nebraska, to Ralph M. and Ida G. (Dorn) Franzen. She married Paul C. Krause on March 7, 1953 in Gothenburg, Nebraska. They were married for 39 years.

She graduated from Beatrice High School in Beatrice, Nebraska in 1950. At the age of 44, Evaro enrolled at Purdue University and graduated with a degree in nursing in 1979. For 30 years, she was employed at Lafayette Home Hospital as a registered nurse in the Labor and Delivery Unit, specializing as a certified lactation consultant. This was an occupation she truly enjoyed.

For 48 years, Evaro was an active member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in West Lafayette, where she served as a member of the Church Council and in many other volunteer positions. She was a board member of the Tippecanoe County Soil and Water Conservation District from 1984 - 1986 and was recognized as being the first female to serve in this capacity. Evaro was also a farm manager and a licensed real estate broker in Indiana.

Evaro's Christian faith was the foundation of her life. She entered into eternity one week before her 86th birthday. She will be missed tremendously and remembered fondly by all who knew her.

She is survived by her four children: Debra (Charles) Provost of Indianapolis, David (Roberta) Krause of West Lafayette, Jane Krause of West Lafayette, and Philip (Elizabeth) Krause of West Lafayette; seven grandchildren: Stephen (Ruby) Provost, Jennifer (Max) Winters, Bradley Krause, Matthew Krause, Joseph Krause, Katherine Krause, Thomas Krause, and former husband, Paul Krause.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three siblings: Rozella (Franzen) Schank, Ralph Franzen, Norris Franzen, and an infant grandson, Jonathan Provost.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 18, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in West Lafayette with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service at 10 am. Her final resting place will be at Grandview Cemetery in West Lafayette. Memorials may be directed to Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 300 West Fowler Avenue, West Lafayette, IN 47906. I worked with Evaro for many years at Home Hospital, such a loving person and dedicated to her profession. I remember she was so kind to open up her lovely home when the girls at work gave me a baby shower when having my 1st baby, that was 31 years ago. Prayers of comfort to your family for your loss.

We lost a good one. Evaro was one of the first to break through the glass ceiling in the real estate industry. My condolences to her family.
