Evelyn Sparks Obituary
Evelyn Rosalie Sparks, 88 of Kentland, passed away at Gilman Healthcare in Gilman, Illinois at 1:25 a.m. Sunday, October 23, 2011.
She was born July 23, 1923 in Lake Village, Indiana to the late Harry and Alma M. (Phillips) Christenson, Sr.
Her first marriage was to Lloyd Earl Goddard in 1942. He died in 1944. She then married Alan R. Sparks on October 14, 1951 in Lake Village, Indiana at her parents home. He died December 2, 2004.
A Homemaker, Evelyn was also a nurses aide at George Ade Memorial Hospital for many years.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Kentland.
Surviving are her children, Lloyd Sparks (wife: Barbara) of Louisville, KY, George Sparks (Selena) of Kentland, Colleen Cripe (husband: Mike) of Goodland and Kathleen Glasgow (husband: Herb) of Kentland; three sisters, June Gribben of Greenwood, Barbara Dawson (husband: Dean) of Lake Village and Kathy Wiseman (husband: Dale) of Morocco and a sister-in-law, Gloria Christenson.
Evelyn loved spending time with her family, especially her 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death with her parents and husbands are two brothers, Robert and Harry Christenson and a granddaughter, Julie Cripe.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. (CST) Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home in Kentland. Funeral Service there 11 a.m. (CST) Thursday, October 27, 2011; Rev. Ed VanWijk to officiate. Interment to follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Kentland.
Memorials may be made to the Kentland American Legion Auxiliary.

I am thinking about all of you, through this time of grief. Wish I could be there for you. I remember Evelyn's laugh, she had such a full laugh and enjoyed all her family. Love Cinda and family.

Dear Lloyd, Colleen, George & Kathleen, So sorry to hear of your mother's passing it brought back a multitude of fond memories of her and all the acts of kindess she did for our family when all you children were growing up. She was a good friend, great neighbor and wonderful mother and we will always remember her.
