Farrell Simmerman Obituary
61, went to be with his Lord on Monday, December 26, 2016 at his residence.
He was born on January 1, 1955 in Anderson, Indiana to the late Howard and Elva Fern (Jones) Simmerman.
Farrell was a 1973 graduate of Pendleton Heights High School. He went on to receive his BS from Purdue University and then his DDS from IU School of Dentistry in 1982.
On June 4, 1977, he married Phyllis Martin in Muncie, Indiana.
Dr. Simmerman owned and operated Simmerman Family Dentistry for over 23 years.
Farrell was a member of the Elmwood Church of Christ where he was a song and worship leader.
He enjoyed reading, music, photography, golf, tennis, and shooting.
Surviving with his wife Phyllis, are their children, Erika Simmerman Mabes (Brian) of Augusta, GA; Erin Fyffe (John) of Borden, IN, and Andrew Simmerman (Emily) of St Louis, MO, and siblings, Merrill Simmerman (Barb) of Indianapolis, Darrell Simmerman (Kathy) of McKinney, TX, Cheryll Simmerman of Portland, Or, and Jerrell Simmerman (Cindy) of Fishers. Also surviving are his grandchildren John Elias (3), Jacob (1), and Adam (1).
A funeral service will be held at the Elmwood Church of Christ on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at noon with Bill Hodges officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Elmwood Church of Christ on Elmwood Avenue, Lafayette, IN. Fisher Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
Memorial Contributions may be made to "Let's Start Talking Mission" through Elmwood Church of Christ. Envelopes will be available at the church.

We will always remember Dr. Simmerman.
He helped while funds were tight and we had no insurance.
My children remember he would sing while he worked on their teeth(LOL). He would be dressed, with racket in hand and heading for the tennis court before we got out the door of the office. Due to his efforts my children(all grown now) have good teeth. My daughter called me one day upset, " Mom I have my first cavity", she was 30 years old.

I have several memories or Farrell from a "car guy" point of view! Between his truck, Miata, and a couple of Mustangs, I always enjoyed chatting with him whenever he found his way over to Raisor Ford. He was always curious to hear what Ford was up to with the Mustangs. I was saddened to hear I will not get to have any more of those conversations.

My condolences to Farrell's family; I was his Patterson Dental sales representative for about 23 years. We also played golf together for several years at the West Central dental society summer golf outing. He was kind and professional, and his caring was his finest attribute. Dr, Simmerman was my dentist and our children are around the same age,when I went to him we talk about our kids. He was the best dentist I have ever had.. My children liked him best. Prayers to your family. You will keep his memory in your hearts through his grandchildren. This is how I got through when my husband passed.R I P DR.SIMMERMAN
