Ivan K. "Ike" Wilder

Remington - Ivan K. "Ike" Wilder, 94, of Remington, passed away at 12:15 PM Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Rensselaer Care Center. He had been a resident there since April 10th.

Ivan was born June 2, 1926 in Lafayette to the late Clarence and Blanche (DeVoogt) Wilder. He graduated from Remington High School as a proud member of the class of 1944. One June 11, 1947, he married Delores Jean Roberts in the rectory of the Remington United Methodist Church. They were not separated until her passing from cancer on July 12, 2002.

Ivan was a farmer throughout his life, although he retired in 1991, his interest in farming never wavered. He was an early advocate of No-Til Farming (which is still being done on his farm today). He was also an avid gardener for many years. As late as the year 2014, at the age of 88, he was still helping on the farm by hauling grain to the local elevator at harvest time. He loved to do this.

Ivan is survived by special friend Sandy Whitton of Lafayette and her extended family. Two sons, Dennis and David of Remington and grandchildren, Teresa (Troy) Cayton and Tina (Michael) Goodman of Goodland, Keith Burke of Lafayette and Hayden Wilder of Charleston, IL. Also surviving are numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death along with his parents and wife Delores were his three brothers, Ralph, Bill, and Johnny; daughter, Sandy Burke; granddaughter, Brenda Chalfin and great-granddaughter, Becca Hoaks.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 4-7 PM (EST) at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Remington. Funeral Service 1:30 PM (EST) Thursday, May 6, 2021 also at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home. Pastor Jeff Smith to officiate. Burial to follow in Remington Cemetery.
