Jerry Lee Hammond, 70

Jerry Lee Hammond, 70, of Flora passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born March 27, 1943, in Metea, IN, the son of Harry and Josephine (Hopper) Hammond. He married the former Judith Ann Moyer; she survives.

Jerry was an electrician, retiring from TRW in 2009. He was the owner/operator of Flora H&M Battery. He was a member of Flora First Brethren and attended Flora United Methodist Church. Jerry enjoyed classic car restoration, fishing, working with his hands mechanically, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Along with his wife, Jerry is survived by two sons, Jeff Hammond (Ivan), Jay (Renee) Hammond; one daughter, Julie (fiancé John Dawson) Rakai; one sister, Donna Belle Willis; and 4 grandchildren, Lexi Reed, Laci Reed, Victor Hammond, Arianne Hammond.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and 2 sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Maple Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, August 24, 2013. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Flora United Methodist Church following the service where a meal will be provided. Memorials in Jerry's name may be made to Miles for Myeloma or American Cancer Society. On-line condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.

Condolences to the family. Worked at TRW with Jerry and considered him my friend. So sorry to hear of his passing, but know he is now with God.
