Joanne Parker Obituary
Joanne "Jody" Parker, 84, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2017.
Born March 24, 1932 to the late Edward and Louise Munger, Jody grew up in Lafayette and graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School. In her early years, Jody worked at Purdue and later was employed by Dr. Haas and Hunter.
Jody loved life, family gathering, and social activities, especially playing euchre and bridge with her family and friends.
Jody leaves behind her husband of 64 years, Homer "Bill" Parker, who she married on October 3, 1953. They have three daughters: Jana (Dave) Compton, Lori (Hal) Bodkin, and Cheryl (Tim) Minardo; a goddaughter, Kym Kelley; six grandchildren, Tricia (Dustin) Parker, Nikki (Mike) Compton, Hal Bodkin III, Caleb (Brittany) Bodkin, Jeremy (Elyse) Minardo, and Justin Minardo; and five great grandchildren, all of Lafayette. She is also survived by her siblings, Lewis (Judy) Munger of Hudson, FL, and Barbara (Tom) Bortner of Elkhart, IN.
Preceding her in death with her parents are her sister, Linda (Phil) Johnson and granddaughter, Keela Bodkin.
Jody's family is most appreciative of the care and love given by Serenity Hospice Care. A special thanks to good friends: Noli, Joyce, and Mary for all the help and support. Thanks to Joyful Journey and Creasy Springs Legacy for taking care of her in special ways.
Funeral service will be at 11 am, Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Hippensteel Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Larry Johnson and Rev. Lore Blinn-Gibson officiating. Burial to follow in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made in Jody's name to Alzheimer's Association. Share memories and condolences online at www.hippensteelfuneralservice.com

Our prayers are with you Bill and girls and families. Jody is a special person and meant a lot to me and my family. I appreciate all the years that my Mom rented from you all and how well you treated her. Jody and us at the doctor's office had a great time every day. She was always smiling and a classy lady. She will be missed.

High school years were soooo great one person assisted me in my shyness--Jody became a good friend marrying number one football player.
