Joyce Jacks Obituary

Joyce Anne (Lehe) Jacks

April 28, 1952 - August 12, 2016

Joyce Anne (Lehe) Jacks, 64, died Friday, August 12 in her home in Queen Creek, AZ in the presence of her husband, Mike, and their five children. She was born April 28, 1952 to the late Lloyd E. and Grace E. Lehe.

She grew up on the family farm in Wolcott, IN with six siblings. After graduating from Wolcott H.S. as salutatorian, Joyce attended West Suburban Nursing School in Oak Park, IL where she trained as an R.N. She worked as a surgical nurse in the Chicago area and later in Mesa, AZ.

She married Michael S. Jacks in 1975 and they had five children: Rebecca (David) Lawson, Tim (Anna) Jacks, Louisa (Ben) Heller, Peter (Jenni) Jacks, and Matthew (Holly) Jacks, all of the metropolitan Phoenix area.

During her child-rearing years, Joyce home-schooled their children, training them to give and do their best at whatever they attempted. She was a perfectionist at sewing and crafting, and in making quilts for her 19 grandchildren. She loved reading and music, having played trombone in high school and singing on her church worship team for many years. Her faith in Jesus comforted her and kept her anchored, especially during the last four hard years of her illness. She embraced her "HARD" with grace. Her sage wisdom and self-effacing humor will be missed.

Surviving siblings are Carol (Bruce) Goodpaster of Littlestown, PA; Melodee (David) Staggers of Greenwood,IN; Michael (Connie) of Wolcott,IN; Lori (John) Cochran of Indianapolis,IN; Lisa Smith of Carmel,IN and Mark Lehe of West Palm Beach, FL.

Her memorial will be held Sept. 9 in Chandler, AZ at Trinity Christian Fellowship. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to Casa Ahava, the first cancer hospice center in Mozambique, founded by Jon and Layne Heller.

Let me offer our condolences to all of Joyce's family. She will be greatly missed by so many. I have such fond childhood memories of Christmas and other occasions celebrated at Grandma Lehe's house and Joyce always being one of my favorite cousins. She was always so warm and friendly to me. I only wish I could have seen her more in recent years. May God bless you all.

Oh, how I miss my friend, Joyce. There is a hole in our circle of friends. There will never be another like her. Ever considerate of others, funny and FUN, so smart, and so godly. God, thank You for the gift of Joyce for the time that we had her. Thank You for the beautiful legacy that she left in her children and grandchildren.
