Richard Haan

West Lafayette - Richard V. "Dick" Haan, 89, of West Lafayette passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at his home.

He was born February 14, 1931 in Lafayette, IN, to the late John Haan and Mary (Jenner) Haan. He was a graduate of Battle Ground High School. Dick worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, IL.

His marriage was to Mary Ann Thoennes. She preceded him in death in September of 1994.

Dick was a World War II history buff, aviation enthusiast, skilled model builder and winemaker of "Hog Point Wine". He enjoyed spending hours constructing replicas of WWII planes. He also enjoyed bird watching, gardening and flowers. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his children: Jane Haan Roembke (husband, Greg) of Indianapolis and Jim Haan (wife, Julie) of Martinsville; siblings: John Edward Haan of Mulberry and Barbara Haan Virgin of Crawfordsville. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Cari (husband, Tim) Gallager, Kandra (husband, Dan) Sejas, Nicholas (wife, Heather) Haan, Andrea (husband, Jon) Guthridge, Rich (wife, Veronica) Andrew and Danielle Andrew and nine great-grandchildren: Harrison Haan, AJ Kimbel, Elizabeth and Ryan McCall, Andrew, Max and Nate Gallager and Logan, Gabbie and Corbin Sejas.

Along with his wife, Mary Ann, he is preceded in death by his parents and daughters Peggy Haan Andrew and Barbara Haan.

Aunt Betty and I are reminiscing about the great football weekends we spent with Dick and Maryann, and Jack and Lois! Go to the game and Win or Lose party (eat, drink and be merry) til the wee hours of the morning!!! Oh to be young again! He’s back with his Mary now...our Love and Prayers for you all...
