Robert Shadowens Obituary

Robert Shadowens, 91

Robert Shadowens, 91, of Lafayette, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2012, at the Indiana Veterans Home in West Lafayette. Born November 19, 1920, in Hobbs, he was raised in Shreveport, La. Robert served in the Army during WWII from 1941 to 1945.

His marriage was to Elizabeth Lewallen on April 30, 1948, in Jamestown, Ind. and she preceded him in death on December 9, 1998. Robert worked in maintenance at Purdue University for 35 years. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and D.A.V.

Surviving is his son, Bruce A. (wife: Reva) Shadowens, of Lafayette; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Robert and Millie (Laymon) Shoop; a son, Nathan R. Shadowens; a brother; and five sisters.

Burial to take place at Rest Haven Memorial Park.

I use to wait on Mr and Mrs Shawdowens at the catalog desk at Sears. I always thought they were such a cute couple. Sorry to hear of Mr Shadowens passing. He was always a very nice man to wait on.
