William Barrett Obituary
William Michael "Bill" Barrett, 70, of Pine Village, died, Wednesday, April, 1, 2015. He was born, September 20, 1944, in Boswell, to the late Hollice & Jeanette (Goen) Barrett. He married, Judy (Gick) Barrett, October, 22, 1966; they later divorced. He married, Jody Ann (Walkup), October 12, 2002; she survives. Bill was a 1962 graduate of Boswell High School, 1966 graduate of Indiana State University & received his Master's Degree from Indiana State University in 1971. He had been a Teacher & Basketball Coach at Pine Village High School; he also formerly worked at Huntington Bank & the former State Bank of Oxford. He formerly owned the Local Bar, Fowler & was a Crop Adjuster. Bill enjoyed fishing, sports, basketball, golf, mushroom hunting & a good Martini.
Surviving with his Wife, Jody Barrett, are three Sons, Christopher Barrett (Wife, Desiree), David Barrett (Wife, Wendy) & Steve Barrett (Wife, Kim), two Stepdaughters, Sarah Propes & Jill Hare, eleven Grandchildren, Parker, Zoee, Drake, Paydin, Carson, Clark, Carley, Jacob, Jackson, Jada & Jenna, two Stepgrandchildren, Cole & Lexi, Sister, Stella Gillen & two Brothers, Joe Barrett (Wife, Elsie) & Tom Barrett. He is preceded in death by 6 Sisters, Dorothy, Kate, Elsie, Mary, Louise & Hazel & two Brothers, Jack & Frank.
Visitation will be, Monday, April 6, 2015, from 4-8 PM with Rosary at 4 PM, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 504 S. Michigan St., Oxford. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, April, 7, 2015, at 10 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Robert Klemme officiating. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions to Central Catholic Boys Basketball. Shoemaker Funeral Home, Otterbein, is assisting the family with services. I am so sad to hear about Mr. Barrett's passing. I saw him in Fowler at my cousin's get-together at the Fowler Country Club & I asked him about his brother Jack, whom I had worked with at the Boswell Bank. He told me he had passed that morning. It had been many decades since I had seen Mr. Barrett - at PV school before the consolidation. I enjoyed catching up & hearing about his life & family. Barrett family,
For years we were clients of Bill's at the Oxford Bank and after he left the bank would enjoying visiting with him in Fowler. What an enjoyable man who was so easy to talk with! He will be missed by many but remembered so fondly. Our deepest sympathy to all of you. May your most treasured memories bring comfort in the days ahead and allow him to remain within your hearts always. Until you are reunited one day.
