William Nangle Obituary

William J. "Bill" Nangle, 90

William J. "Bill" Nangle, 90, of Lafayette, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 11:55 a.m. at Creasy Springs Nursing Home. Bill was born on August 30, 1926 to the late Joseph and Leona (Shaw) Nangle. He was a graduate of Montmorenci High School. Bill married Ruth Green on May 7, 1949 in Montmorenci, and she preceded him in death on August 11, 2014. He worked as a Postal Clerk for the US Postal Service until retiring in 1987. Bill and his wife were very active in square dancing clubs, and enjoyed traveling by car and seeing different sights. Bill was an avid chess player and competed on a very high level for many years, including playing Masters at Purdue and other area local schools. Chess was one of Bill's greatest passions in life, and continued playing until his recent death.

Surviving are four children, Janet (Steve) Burnett of Lafayette, Patricia Gaylord of Lafayette, Kathy (Scott) Machovic of Sarasota, FL, and Donald (Dianne) Nangle of The Villages, FL. Also surviving, is 10 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

A memorial service on will be held from 1to 4 PM Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 3600 S. 9th, Lafayette. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. We had great times playing chess, going for walks, watching birds, just talking, investigating packed car, talking about old times, talking about your children, talking about your wife and square dancing, New Windows in a new van, really?
playing chess with other people,haha you would not yield, haha , making the girls love you at Creasy Springs, what a guy?

No doubt there was a reason they put you at the counter at the Post Office.

What a guy.
