David Fountain Obituary
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall."
RICHLANDS - Capt. David William Fountain, 24, of Richlands, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, Nov. 15, 2009, with his mother and father at his side.
David was a free and gentle spirit who was a beacon of light to all who knew and loved him. He loved the water, boating and fishing; and above all else, he loved his family.
David leaves behind his mother, Bridget Gurganus Hardin; his father, David Grayson Fountain and wife Catherine Fountain; his sisters, Krissi and Katy Fountain and Hannah Goble; his brothers, Shane Hardin, Hatch and Grayson Fountain and Alex Goble; his grandmother, Nannie Metts; his cousins; his aunts and uncles; and numerous other family members all of whom loved him dearly.
A memorial service is planned for Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville at 2 p.m. with a celebration of David's life immediately following the service at the Marina Café for all who love him as we do.

Dear Dave, Catherine, and Family,
We just found out about Little Dave. We don't know quite what to say that would make the hurt any less. He made a lasting impression on anyone he met, be it his smile or his witty remarks, and was always fun to be around. He will be missed dearly. We can't imagine loosing any of our children, and we can't imagine the hurt that your feeling now. We wished there was something we could say or do to lessen the pain. I am sorry to hear of your loss. I can understand and feel your pain. My cousin Adam DiCarlo passed as well. We don't always understand why God takes those close to us so soon, but with the love and strength of the Lord, we can feel comforted that they are now with the Lord. The pain from our loss will never be gone, David was in incredible gift from God. He was the most kind-hearted, loving friend/family member and my heart will ache for him forever. It's hard to understand why God takes back the best gifts he's given, but we will make it through. David's watching over us now and he's in a better place. I know he doesn't want us to hurt and it feels impossible, I get through by remembering a saying that was embroidered on a pillow at my late grandmother's house, "God will never leave you where his strength cannot keep you."
