A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13 at First Baptist Church in Beaufort with Revs. Michael Fields and John Thompson and Dr. Jack Hinton officiating.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was the owner of N.C. Structural Detailers for 28 years. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Beaufort, serving as Deacon, member of the church band and delivered Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Sadie Wheeler Congleton; stepdaughter, Sherrie Duncan Gregory of Angier; sister, Julia Congleton Tourney of Corpus Christi, Texas; half-sister, Nancy Newan McCausley of Hubert; and half-brother, Lou Newan of Beaufort.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made in memory of Bruce to First Baptist Church Music Ministry.
