John Gatlin Obituary

HUBERT - John Christopher Gatlin, 50, of Hubert, died Sunday, December 6, 2020, at his home, after a brief battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday at Enon Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend James Kelley officiating. Burial will follow at the Kellum Family Cemetery in Hubert. He will be the 7th generation direct descendant of the Rev. James Coston to be buried there.
John was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Augustus Gatlin; his grandparents, Earl and Katie Lee Conway Gatlin and Bob and Lucille Smith Hartsfield, all of Hubert.
Survivors include his mother, Phyllis Hartsfield Gatlin; and brother, Cameron Earl Gatlin and his fiancé, Susanna Rowan of Hubert.
As a 1988 graduate of Swansboro High School, he also graduated from UNC-Charlotte with a BS degree in Chemistry.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, and was widely known as being kind, gentle and caring to all. For his entire life, John was very dependable and always willing to help his father and grandfather in their family business.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday morning prior to the service, at the church.
