Allan Edward Park

1931 - 2023

Allan Edward Park, 91, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023, while a patient at Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital in Brookville.

He was born on April 25, 1931, to the late Humbert E. and ­Anna Rebecca (Brosius) Park in Brookville, PA.

Allan proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was in communications and was present when the Korean War Armistice Agreement was signed on July 27, 1953. While he was in the Army, he finished his GED and took a series of tests where he tested at a college associate degree level.

Allan married Ruth June Guthrie on June 5, 1954, in Hawthorn, PA; Ruth preceded him in passing on August 23, 2003. Allan was a firm believer in the Christian faith and often read his Bible. When Allan was a young boy, he farmed with his family, raising chickens and cattle. After he was discharged from the Army, he owned a coal mine in Coolspring, PA. He then worked for the United States Postal Service where he retired after 38 years in 1996.

Allan was a collector, he collected but not limited to: baseball cards, tractors, milk bottles, and stamps. He enjoyed gardening and farming; he would grow apple trees and blueberry bushes. Allan was a simple man who loved to be outdoors and liked to be active. A fond memory of his was going down to his pond with his family and granddaughter, Allie, to feed the fish. He was also a talker, he enjoyed telling stories to anyone who would listen.

Allan is survived by his son, Rick A. Park and granddaughter, Allie Hope Park.

In addition to his parents and wife, Allan is preceded in passing by three sisters: Maxine Park, Marie Cochran, and Aldine Snyder; one brother, Humbert E. Park Junior; and daughter-in-law, Robin Park.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the McKinney – d'Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11 a.m. and officiated by Pastor Jim Fillhart. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the St. John's (Windy Hill) Cemetery, mailed to Rick Park, 23 Pennsylvania Ave., Brookville, PA 15825.
