Walter Spare Obituary
He was born August 6, 1939 in Heathville, the son of the late Henry Spare and Ida Beers Spare.
Walter was retired from Hartzell Hardwoods of Piqua, Ohio, where he worked for 40 years and was a member of their Century Club.
He was a member of the McConnelsville Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Walter was a member of the Neelysville Grange No. 299 and held many offices.
He was a former member of the Morgan County Farm Bureau and helped his sons in their mowing business. Walter also had served as a former McConnelsville Village Council member.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alvera Marcus Spare; two sons, Keith Spare and Kevin Spare; all of McConnelsville; a sister, Twila Clark of Brockway; a brother, Harold Spare of Heathville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Holly Spare; and a brother, Gary Spare.
His family will receive friends on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Furlong Funeral Home, located at 50 Broad Street in Summerville.
A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., with Pastor Randy Hall officiating.
Interment and graveside committal services for Walter will follow at the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Ohl.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, 3886 Heathville Ohl Road, Summerville, PA 15864.
