HINDSBORO - Cheryl Lynn Comperchio, 78, of Hindsboro, IL, passed away at 3:00 PM on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main Street in Arcola, IL. A celebration of Cheryl's Life will be held at 3:00 PM at the funeral home following the visitation on Sunday. Please come and share a special memory of Cheryl. Private family burial will be in the Hamilton Cemetery in Hamilton, IN.
Cheryl was born on December 4, 1945, in Jackson, MI, a daughter of Joseph Aaron and Marian Evelyn (Huston) Comperchio. She married Eileen V. Burch on September 12, 2006, in Sault Ste. Marie, Onterio, Canada.
Cheryl is survived by her wife, Eileen of Hindsboro, IL; two nieces: Laurie Smith and her husband Gerry of Weirsdale, FL, and Barb Channell of Spring Arbor, MI; a nephew, Chuck Channell and his wife Karen of Jackson, MI; great-nieces and nephews: Justin Wagner, Brent, Jimmy, and Robby Ellinwood, Christine Dever and Jeff Channell. Also surviving are two brothers-in-law, Neal Burch of Booneville, AK, and Dean Burch of Hudson, IN; and nieces and nephews: Olivia Burch, Danni Burch and her wife Sara, Brittany Harrell and her husband Luke, Dawn Burch, Christopher Burch and Alana Tong and her husband Dimitri.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Patricia Channell.
Cheryl graduated from Western High School in Parma, MI, in 1964. She served in the United States Navy as a Photographers Mate 3rd Class Petty Officer.
She worked at Moore Business Forms in Charleston, IL, as a typesetter until they closed. Cheryl then attended Lakland College where she earned an associate's degree in civil engineering. She took a job with GSI Grain Systems in Assumption, IL, prior to accepting a position with the Illinois Department of Transportation in Paris, IL, where she retired as a Support Services Manager in 2012.
Cheryl was an avid Chicago Cub fan, she enjoyed reading, photography and playing softball. She dearly loved her dogs and had several through the years, she even came to appreciate cats.
Some of her fondest memories were vacationing in Florida and swimming with the dolphins at Discovery Cove in Orlando, going to the Dominican Republic, and attending the Bainbridge Navy Waves reunion in Lancaster, PA.
Cheryl's family would like to especially thank everyone at Mattoon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center for the excellent and compassionate care they all gave Cheryl.

Cheryl and I were very good friends in the 7th grade at West Intermediate. Her aunt, Mrs Mary Genco was my neighbor and was happy that we were so close. I missed those simple days and will cherish our friendship forever. May her memory be eternal.

Cheryl was in my 1st grade class at T.A. Wilson school in Jackson Michigan, we were about 7.
Nice Girl, as I remember. After all I am 78 Too.
