Douglas Pullen Obituary

ARCOLA -- Douglas James "Dog" Pullen, 46, of Arcola, IL, passed away at 4:05 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2004, at his residence in Arcola, IL. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2004 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main Street in Arcola, IL, Rev. Tony Crouch will officiate. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 4, 2004 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Dog was born May 17, 1957 in Tuscola, IL. He was the son of James Vernon Pullen and Nancy Lynn Long. He married Kathy Deanne Heuerman on December 18, 1979 in Tuscola, IL. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Pullen of Arcola, IL; two daughters, Carrie Ann VonLanken and her husband, Nick of Tuscola, IL, and Heather Lynn Pullen of Humboldt, IL; his father, Jim Pullen and his wife, Denise of Mt. Zion, IL; his mother, Nancy Romack and her husband, Paul of Mattoon, IL; five brothers, Jeff Pullen of Tuscola, IL, Rick Pullen and his wife, Audra of Arthur, IL, Jason Pullen of Mt. Zion, IL, Josh Pullen of Mt. Zion, IL, and Scott Pullen of Mt. Zion, IL; and two stepsisters, Teresa Newgent and Niki Romack, both of Charleston, IL. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Dog was a 1975 graduate of Arcola High School. He was employed at VESUVIUS USA in Charleston, IL, since October of 1977, where he worked on the production floor. Dog was a devoted husband of 24 years and a loving father. He enjoyed listening to and collecting music, playing his guitar and hanging out with his family and friends. Dog was an avid golfer. In the 1970s and 1980s he played slow pitch softball for the Busch team. He also enjoyed shooting pool, camping, fishing and spoiling his dog Dudley. Dog and I were co-workers and good friends for years. He sure made our jobs more efficient with his thoughts and ideas. My wife and I always enjoyed Dogs company and good humor. He will be sadly missed. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Kathy, the girls and the family.
