A Life Rooted in Faith, Family, and Farming
Born on October 17, 1944, in Mattoon, Illinois, Ed was the beloved son of Clyde Myrvin and Hazel Jeanetta (Tate) Curry. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served honorably in Germany. But Ed's true legacy was built not just in service to his country, but in the quiet, steadfast way he served his community, his family, and the Lord.
A lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Ed lived his faith openly and joyfully. His love for God was not just spoken-it was lived. Whether he was lending a helping hand, offering a word of encouragement, or simply sharing a smile, Ed's heart overflowed with grace. He was known for "praising and praising" God in every season of life, and his unwavering devotion was a beacon to all who knew him.
A Farmer's Heart and a John Deere Soul.
Ed's passion for agriculture ran as deep as the roots in his fields. A dedicated cattleman and proud steward of the land, he found joy in every aspect of farm life-from the hum of a John Deere tractor to the excitement of the North American Livestock Expo and Farm Progress Shows. He cherished watching his daughters show cattle and was a familiar, friendly face in the local farming community.
He served as the 4-H Beef Cattle Superintendent at the Coles County Fair and was an active member of the Coles County Farm Bureau and Masonic Lodge #260 in Mattoon. His commitment to agriculture was matched only by his love for the people it brought into his life.
A Legacy of Love
Ed is survived by his two daughters, Kirstin N. Perry (Travis) of Monticello, IN, Kelly D. Campbell (Scot) of Mattoon, IL; his sister, Elaine Biesinger of Springville, UT; his grandchildren, Bailey P. Kephart (Doug) of Indianapolis, IN, Bryson O. Perry of Monticello, IN, Beau P. Goodwin (Stephanie) of Charleston, IL, Madison C. Goodwin (Michael White) of Charleston, IL; And his great-grandchildren, Molly J. and Miley G. Goodwin, Kinsley M. Kephart. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and William Curry.
Ed never met a stranger. His warmth, generosity, and boundless energy made him a friend to all. Whether sharing stories at the fairgrounds or lending a hand in the fields, Ed's presence was a gift. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the faith he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
In honor of Ed's life and passions, memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 200 Charleston Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938 or Coles County 4-H, 809 Broadway Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938.
