MATTOON - Floretta Rodebaugh (nee Seaman), age 96, of Mattoon, IL, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, at her residence in Mattoon, IL.
A funeral service in her honor will be held at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL, 61938. Reverend Kevin Wolfe will officiate. A committal service will immediately follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Mattoon, IL. The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
Floretta was born on January 11, 1928, in Magnet, IL, to the late Vernon LeRoy and Grace Maude (nee Wilson) Seaman. She married Raymond F. Rodebaugh Sr. on September 21, 1946, in Mattoon, IL. They shared sixty-three years together before his passing on January 15, 2010.
She is survived by three children: Susie R. Swisher of Tamarac, FL, Diana L. Von Behrens of Mattoon, IL, Dr. Raymond F. Rodebaugh Jr. (Belinda) of Sarasota, FL; two grandchildren: Andrew T. Swisher of Coral Springs, FL, Johna Von Behrens of Mattoon, IL; one great-grandchild: Collin Price of Jacksonville, IL; four nephews: Boyce Seaman, Donald Seaman, David Seaman, and Michael McCall. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Julie M. (nee Swisher) Price; one great-granddaughter, Chalice Price; and three brothers: Don, Ward, and Carl Seaman.
A charter member of Broadway Christian Church, Floretta also attended the United Christian Church both in Mattoon, IL. She retired from First National Bank in Mattoon, IL, after twenty years of service. Prior to that she was employed at Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company in Mattoon, IL. She held long time memberships at the American Business Women's Association in Mattoon, IL, and Mattoon Area Family YMCA.
Floretta enjoyed spending time at the YMCA and was especially fond of the pool. She was a marvelous cook and was well known for her parade of delicious pies at holiday gatherings. For many years, Floretta and her husband Raymond spent numerous weekends camping with their friends. After his passing, she enjoyed playing cards, shopping, and dining out with friends.
Above all, family was Floretta's pride and joy. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
