Carol L. Rodebaugh, 84, of Hutchinson, died January 19, 2025, surrounded by her family after a long health battle. She was born June 1, 1940, in Quenemo, KS, to Otis and Helen (Matthias) Whitcher.
Carol graduated from Ellsworth High School with the class of 1958.
On December 31, 1964, she married her sweetheart, Kent Rodebaugh, in Ellsworth. Carol and Kent met at a skating rink in Salina. He tripped over her skates and fell deeply in love. They shared 60 wonderful years of marriage before her death.
During her life, the mountains often called to Carol. She and Kent lived in Colorado for 17 years nestled in the valley below the mountains she loved so dear. She enjoyed exploring nature and watching all the wildlife. Carol was a devoted homemaker who loved her family tremendously. Her biggest delight was always her family where her heart will forever remain.
Carol was a dedicated member of CrossPoint Hutchinson where she was baptized in 2019.
Carol is survived by: beloved husband, Kent Rodebaugh; daughters, Kimberly Rodebaugh and Noele (Keith) Bowman, both of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Tristan Bowman and Brielle Bowman both of Emporia, Keith Bowman II of Ooltewah, TN, and Shawna Plaine of Martinsburg, WV; and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, Donald Whitcher, Hubert Whitcher; and sister, Beverly Whitcher.
Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2025, at CrossPoint Hutchinson with Pastor Andy Addis officiating. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to CrossPoint Hutchinson or Hospice of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
Family would like to extend their thankfulness and appreciation to all of Carol's caregivers and especially Hospice of Reno County for all their attentiveness.
