Harry Daniel Rodebaugh, age 94, of
Sylvania, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026. Born in Sylvania on April 3, 1931, to Floyd and Evelyn (Scott) Rodebaugh, Harry lived a full life rooted in hard work, humor, and an unwavering love for his family.
Harry retired from Kuhlman Corporation in 1993, where he worked as an operating engineer. He was known for his strong work ethic and took great pride in his work and could fix anything. He was gregarious, generous, caring, entertaining and humorous, he could tell a great story, and never left a room without making someone - especially the ladies - smile.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Harry's love of athletics began early, earning him induction into the Sylvania Burnham High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017 for football, basketball, and track. He remained active his entire life, bowling three days a week right up until his passing. He loved to fish, watch basketball, and never passed up a good Western movie.
He also had a few simple favorites - chicken, waffles or French toast absolutely covered in syrup. He had a way of surprising people with his age, 94 and proving it didn't define how fully he lived.
More than anything, Harry cherished time with his family and friends. Enjoyed many vacations in Florida. From years of bowling on multiple teams to Sunday morning breakfasts at Mayberry Diner - where he always looked forward to seeing his favorite waitress, Brynn - those moments became traditions and memories that will last forever.
To his family, he was more than just a father or grandfather - he was a hero and a friend. He was a constant presence, a source of laughter, and a steady light. He truly was the epitome of living life to its fullest.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty; daughter, Debra Eagon; brother, Harold Rodebaugh; sister-in-law, Shirley Rodebaugh; son- in-law, Jeff Schaaf; and longtime partner, Bernice Napolski.
Harry is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Thomas) Schaaf Martin; sons Daniel Rodebaugh and Terry (Jessie) Rodebaugh; son-in-law John (Debra) Eagon; brothers, Melvin (Joyce) Rodebaugh and James (Betsy) Rodebaugh; sister, Barb (William) Hoffman; and many grandchildren: Todd (Stacy) Eagon, Jeff Schaaf, Karee (Roger) Cooper, Matthew (Kelley) Schaaf, Linsay (Mark) Alford, Terry (Stephanie) Rodebaugh, Laure (Jeremy) Poe, Ashley (Terrence) Davison, Stihl Rodebaugh, Elizabeth Rodebaugh; step-grandchildren Erica and Alison Martin, and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family would also like to recognize Harry's special bowling and dinner friends, Joan, Dolores, Carol and Shelly, who shared many laughs and memories with him over the years.
While his family will miss him deeply, they find comfort knowing he's likely already dancing and singing with his beloved wife, sharing stories with his brother, or enjoying a Bloody Mary or Seagram's and Coke somewhere peaceful.
Thank you to everyone who called, prayed, or sent well wishes. In true Harry fashion, he didn't want a special service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
And that's a "True Story."
