John Frederick "Jack" Farrell

DECATUR - John Frederick "Jack" Farrell, age 88, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Mattoon, IL, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at his residence.
A graveside service in his honor will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 21, 2024, at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Trowbridge, IL.
Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL, 61938, is in charge of arrangements.
Jack was born on April 10, 1935, in Mattoon, IL, to the late John Gilbert and Dorothy Christine (Kline) Farrell.
He is survived by one daughter, Rebecca A. Farrell of Decatur, IL; four grandchildren: Jennifer M. Gordon-Gritzmacher and husband Greg, Thomas A. Gordon and wife Michelle, Jason Croy and wife Catherine, Rachael A. Croy and partner Andrew all of Macon County, IL; four great-grandchildren: Nadia R. Ens, Thomas A. Gordon, Eona M. Gritzmacher and Audrey B. Croy all of Macon County, IL. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jacqueline Gordon.
Mr. Farrell was a proud veteran of the United States National Guard. For many years he was employed with Northwest Airlines as an equipment service operator where he retired. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing Chess, and traveling the world gathering genealogy information for both sides of the family dating back six generations. Jack will be remembered.
