CHARLESTON - Ronald Lee Lang, 62, of Charleston, passed away at 12:55 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at the Mattoon Health Care and Rehab Center. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, at the Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 Charleston Avenue in Mattoon. Memorial services honoring his life will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Ronald was born January 20, 1948 in Charleston, a son of Raymond and Geraldine (Hayes) Lang. He married Judy Whiteside. Survivors include his daughter, Sarah Miller and husband Eric of rural Charleston; two brothers, Mike Lang and wife Lyn of The Villages, Florida and Jim Lang and wife Lisa of Mattoon; one granddaughter, Aubrey Miller of rural Charleston; and his former wife, Judy (Whiteside) Lang of Charleston. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter. Mr. Lang served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Infantry in Korea during the Vietnam War and worked at Trailmobile in Charleston. Ron was a member of the United Steel Workers of America. He was an avid gardener and was an environmentalist before it was 'popular', being extremely proud of the passive solar home he built. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in his honor are suggested to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Not only did we live 2 blocks from one another before we moved, we were really good friends. I was in Japan July 4th weekend of 1970 attending The Worlds Fair in Osaka. I signed the guestbook and looking through it saw Ron had signed it two weeks earlier.
R.I.P. my friend.

Dear MIke, Jim and Sarah, and families,
So sorry to hear about my cousin, Ronny. I think the last time I had a visit with him was in 1975. I have fond memories of our visits as children in the summer times when we would drive out there from Gloucester MA. My deepest condolences, your cousin Kathy {LAng} Dunphy
