David Norman Obituary
Mr. David Leon Norman, of Harrisburg, departed this life Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Woodbriar Nursing Home, at the age of 79. He was born July 17,1946, in Memphis, TN, to George Norman and Nancy Spencer Norman. After high school graduation David served 3 years in the Army National Guard. He went to Eaton Barber College in Little Rock and worked in his dad's barber shop on court square for several years before going to work for AP&L, (Entergy) ,for 20 yrs., where he made many friendships and met his friend and pastor, Kenny Guy McMahan. David and his co-workers loved to joke around and have a good time. After retirement he started his own electrical business and drove a bus for Harrisburg Schools for 14 yrs. The kids loved seeing Mr. David every day! He loved to grow sunflowers on his land next to the highway for everyone passing by to enjoy. Many people would stop and pick a few flowers or take a picture with them. He loved watching birds, seeing how many different kinds migrated through northeast Arkansas every season. He loved to visit with everyone, any excuse to go to Food Giant! You never knew what he would bring home, one time it was a pony, instead of bread. He served on the Harrisburg School Board for several terms, had a quail farm, went on mission trips and helped with the Red Cross. David loved God, his family, camping, fishing, hunting, helping in his community and church. David and Gloria enjoyed 59 years together and they were faithful members of Shiloh Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, George and Nancy Norman, he was preceded in death by a brother, GW & Mona Norman of California. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Norman, of the home, his children, Nancy and her husband Jimmy Wood of Harrisburg, Jannet and her husband Jeb Bass of Harrisburg, Connie and her husband Jacob Harper of Harrisburg, Mollie and her husband Dillion Laird of Bono, Christopher Norman and Ashley Potter of Marmaduke. His brother, George and wife Mary Norman of Kentucky. His grandchildren, Kayla Welch, Brittany Pierce, Nicolas (Jamie) Bryant, Lila Wood, Riley Wood, Lindsey Greer, Claire Bass, Case Bass, Allie (Justin) McKellar and Emaleigh (Carter) Keith. Eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. "OUR DAD LOVED PEOPLE, LOVED LIFE, LOVED TO HAVE FUN AND PLAY JOKES, BUT MOST OF ALL HE LOVED BEING WITH HIS CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN. WE ARE TRULY BLESSED TO HAVE SUCH A WONDERFUL MAN WE CALL DAD" ! Those honored to be pallbearers are Jeb Bass, Jacob Harper, Jimmy Wood and Dillion Laird. Honorary pallbearers are, all grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg with speakers, Bro. Phillip Jenkins, Jeb Bass and Bro. Kenny McMahan . Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A private burial at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery will be at a later date.
