Cleata Daniel Obituary

JONESBORO - Cleata Mae Crain Daniel, age 90, went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2025. Cleata spent her last days at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. Cleata was born in Rector, to Cleatus Luster Crain and Mary Anna Farmer Crain.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James Daniel; her parents, Cleatus and Mary Crain; brothers, Ralph Crain, Sr., Luster Crain, Gaylon Crain, and sister, Carolyn Crain.

Cleata is survived by her two sons, David Daniel and wife Beverly, Stan Daniel and wife Maria; one daughter, Karen White and husband Tommy; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Crain and Cathy Crain; six grandchildren, Matt Daniel (Jennifer), Josh Daniel (Nicole), Meredith Copeland (Drew), Madison Allison (Josh), Dustin White (Maria), and Zac White; 12 great-grandchildren, Finley Daniel, Bauer Daniel, Davis Copeland, Sam Copeland, Steele Daniel, Brett Daniel, Rory Allison, Ellis James Allison, Summit Allison, Gabby White, Alexa White, and Lola White. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Cleata was a 1952 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School and spent most of her adult life in Walnut Ridge before moving to Jonesboro in 1998 to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Over the years, Cleata worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, Jonathan A. Logan garment factory, and as a teller for Arkansas Bank, all in Walnut Ridge.

Cleata was a member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro, and a member of the Mike and Vickey Mullally Sunday School Class.

Upon her retirement and move to Jonesboro, Cleata spent much of her time helping with grandchildren, attending their many sporting events and school activities. She loved cooking and spending time outside caring for her yard and flowers. She and her husband James also shared many hours watching the St. Louis Cardinals games on television.

Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting elaborate afghans, doilies, and tablecloths.

Serving as pallbearers are Matt Daniel, Josh Daniel, Dustin White, Zac White, Drew Copeland, and Josh Allison.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Bernards Villa, St. Bernards Total Life Healthcare, and the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House for the loving care of our mother.

Special thanks to doctors Stephen Woodruff and Jim Murrey as her primary care physicians.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 31, under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with the service immediately following. Burial will be at Jonesboro Memorial Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband James.

For lasting memorials, the family suggests the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House, St. Bernards Villa, or a charity of your choosing.
