David Tyer Obituary

JONESBORO - David Burke Tyer, formerly of Wynne, died Saturday, May 14, 2022, at his home in Jonesboro.

David was born Oct. 11, 1941, to the late William Block Tyer Sr. and Mary Eleanor (Billie) Tyer in West Ridge.

He graduated from Lepanto High School in 1959. After high school, he started his farming career. He was a lifetime farmer, held his commodity broker's license, was a former insurance agent and was the executive broker of White Land Co.

David enjoyed getting on a tractor and just driving through the dirt. He was an avid duck hunter and guide for many years. He shared his love of hunting and fishing with his three sons and grandsons.

He also loved cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks during their good seasons and their worst seasons.

While living in Wynne, you could almost always find him at a good restaurant enjoying an early morning cup of coffee with lifelong friends. He played classical piano for 13 years and was a member of the Lepanto Basketball Team.

David also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with family and friends. David was well known as a jokester and prankster with a dry sense of humor. He always had a joke or a story to tell.

David was a past chairman of the Shaver-Farmer chapter, Ducks Unlimited. He was a recipient of the Cross County No-till Farmer of the Year, and a past board member of the Cross County Rural Water Association.

While living in Wynne, he and his family attended McElroy United Methodist Church and was a past board member of the church.

David was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife of 39 years, Sunday Ann Reeves Tyer.

David is survived by his four children, Tiffany Leherr of Greenwood Village, Colo., Tori of Summerville, S.C., and Will and Block, both of Jonesboro; and a brother, William Tyer of Blytheville.

He is also survived by five grandsons, Miller Brooks, Jordan Books and Jackson Leherr, all of Colorado, and Thompson Tyer and Eli Tyer, both of Jonesboro.

In lieu of flowers, all memorials can be made to the ALS Foundation in memory of his late wife, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. today, May 19, at Kernodle Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Burial services for family and close friends will follow in Cogbill Cemetery. Kernodle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
